The 90-Minute Marketing Glow-Up

We are nearing the end of a major home renovation. What started as a kitchen reno escalated into a full-blown half-of-the-house overhaul.

I washed our dishes outside in the hose for 9 weeks. And I’m a “cook every meal at home” kind of mom.

Been there? It was rough!

But some of the most rewarding changes to our home didn’t require a renovation. In fact, my new favorite room (the dining room pictured) simply needed a fresh coat of paint and a new light fixture to look pretty again.

We tend to think change requires starting over: New house. New website. New brand. New strategy.

But most of the time, the thing that needs refreshing doesn’t need to be rebuilt. It just needs attention.

If your nonprofit’s marketing feels like it needs a total reset, I want to introduce another option: The 90-Minute Glow-Up.

Not a rebrand.

Not a new website.

Not a six-month planning retreat.

Just 90 focused minutes to refresh the places your audience sees first.

Block it on your calendar like a meeting and focus on quick wins that will make a noticeable difference to feeling more polished, up to date, elevated.

7 Quick Wins for a Marketing Glow-up:

  1. Swap outdated photos: Replace at least one outdated team or event photo with something recent, high-quality, and authentic.

  2. Fix your first impression: Write a single sentence describing your mission: “We help ____ do ____ so they can ____.”

Add that sentence everywhere your audience lands.

  3. Check your links: Broken donation buttons, old event pages, or missing newsletter sign-ups impact your credibility. Spend five minutes making sure every link still works.

  4. Audit your last 10 social posts: Consider what actually got likes, comments, or clicks, then write down the patterns you notice from the top 3. Plan to do more of those!

  5. Add one automation: Set up a “welcome email” or “thank you” message for new subscribers, donors, or customers. It’s one of the easiest ways to nurture relationships automatically.

  6. Revisit your call to action: Nonprofits should always be one click away from the opportunity to give. If someone is inspired in the moment, don’t make them hunt for how to take action. Do a quick scan of your website, as well as recent social media and emails. Is your call to action direct and handy?

  7. Make your next 30 days intentional: End your refresh by scheduling 3-4 key posts or emails for the next month so your refreshed energy keeps momentum.

That’s it. All in 90 minutes or less!

The more aligned your message and visuals are, the more confident you feel showing up.

Just like my dining room, the transformation might be simpler, faster, and far less overwhelming than you think. Sometimes all it takes is a refresh, not a rebuild.
